New Masonry Cleaners are designed for removing excess mortar and construction debris from newly erected brick, block, and stone. With today’s variety of specialty bricks and stone, the traditional use of muriatic acid to clean new masonry risks creating serious discoloration by activating iron, manganese, vanadium, and other materials present. The staining often doesn’t appear until several weeks or months after the cleaning, and this leads to disputes between contractors and building owners. The properly selected ShoreBest™ cleaner will remove the excess mortar without damaging the substrate or causing unwanted.

Restoration Cleaners are complex formulations designed for the large scale cleaning of masonry surfaces. Removing the accumulation of decades of industrial pollution from a building’s facade is the classic example. A properly formulated cleaner will remove the grime without unwanted etching or bleaching of the brick or stone. ShoreBest™ Restoration Cleaners combine the power of inorganic compounds with the finesse of selected organic additives to provide superior cleaning without being excessively aggressive towards the substrate.

Paint Strippers are formulated to remove paint, coatings, and graffiti from wood, masonry, and metal surfaces. The properly selected stripper can remove multiple layers of paint in one application. These products are often used to spot-clean areas of a building façade prior to the use of a Restoration Cleaner.

Remedial Products are specialty compounds tailored to a specific cleaning need. Unlike a general restoration cleaner, each product is formulated to target selected contaminants with highly concentrated, chemically selective cleaning agents. These specialty products can be used as the sole cleaning agent to solve spot problems, such as metal and oil stains, in selected areas or used as a pretreatment step prior to the application of a Restoration Cleaner. Some products, like 2330 Graffiti Resistant Treatment and 2390 Rust Bonder, are used to prevent problems from happening. Our 2320 Poultice thickens other cleaners to convert them into a drawing salve to pull stains out of porous substrates.

Water Repellents are generally made from silicon based chemicals. They resist the penetration of liquid water into above grade surfaces but allow the free exchange of vapor phase water to allow the structure to “breathe” properly. Most of these products penetrate the surface to leave little or no visible change in appearance except when wet. Ulsterflex products tend to set on the surface and are designed for treating very porous substrates like split faced concrete block. Many of the ShoreBest™ Water Repellents are based on sophisticated chemistry not used by most manufacturers. Water Repellents should not be confused with waterproofing materials designed to prevent intrusion of ground water into below grade structures.

Environmental Products. Superior performance does not come from products with mediocre ingredients. To be effective, many of the ShoreBest products must contain aggressive chemicals. We are all concerned with the environment, and neutralizing the residue that remains after application to make it safe for disposal is mandatory. ShoreBest neutralizers are effective and environmentally friendly.

Concrete Products. This category contains formulations designed for treating problems generally associated only with concrete structures like sidewalks, driveways, toll plazas and parking structures. Many of the products found in the Paint Stripper, Remedial Products, and Water Repellent sections are also highly effective on concrete surfaces.

EIFS Appearance System. This category contains formulations designed for protecting and treating problems generally associated with Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), multi-layered exterior wall systems that are often used on both commercial buildings and homes.
